This time of year, everyone travels to and from holiday destinations. But if you’re like me, you have a long list of things to do and need more time. And that means making sure your vehicle is ready for some heavy-duty driving. Here are some tips on how to keep your car healthy during the holidays and treat it how it deserves!

Check the air filter, oil, and gas, so you have plenty of power when needed.

First, you’ll need to check a few things under the hood.

Check the air filter. This is one of the easiest things you can do to keep your car running smoothly; all it takes is a screwdriver and patience. While you’re at it, check the oil level, too—if it’s low or dirty, this could be a sign of a bigger problem.

Additionally, ensure you have enough gas in your tank so that when you need to hit the road for holiday travel, you don’t find yourself stranded on an empty highway with no way to get more fuel!

Finally, ensure your battery is fully charged so that if something happens while driving and power runs out (like a low-battery warning), then there will still be enough juice left in the battery until someone can help jumpstart it again or recharge its power supply.

Check belt tension and tires for wear.

During the holidays, it’s likely that you will be traveling a lot more than usual. It’s also likely that your car may be used for getting to and from some extra holiday fun. Here are some other things you can do to ensure your vehicle runs smoothly:

  • First, check your owner’s manual to see what kind of belts your car has and how often they need to be replaced. Stick to that schedule!
  • Check tire pressure regularly to maintain proper inflation levels. If the pressure is too high or too low, it can affect your fuel economy and cause premature wear on tires—which means they might need replacing sooner than expected!
  • Tire tread depth should fall between two-thirds and three-quarters of what they were when new. A worn-out tire will have less traction when driving at highway speeds, so watch out!

These are things you should always be keeping an eye out for, but it’s imperative during the holidays!
